Sands Point Preserve was the home for Guggenheim family (it now belongs to Nassau County). Meyer Guggenheim who had 7 sons was a wealthy immigrant from Switzerland doing mine business. His son Daniel expanded the family interest and then Meyer's fourth son Solomon contributed the famous Guggenheim Museum in New York City where designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1959.
